Guildford Theatre School

Founded by local professionally trained actors and teachers, husband and wife Sean and Anna McNamara, the Guildford Theatre School is an independently owned performing arts school. We value traditional approaches to dancing, singing and drama training. The Guildford Theatre School celebrates the pursuit of excellence, believing that all individuals are capable of achieving extraordinary things.

A Weekly School

The Guildford Theatre School provides fun filled classes in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Singing, Drama and Musical Theatre for all abilities, each Saturday during term time. Our staff have trained at some of the nation’s most prestigious performing arts institutions including the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, the Guildford School of Acting, Rose Bruford College, Bird College, Mountview and Urdang Academy.

Past pupils have been offered places at many of the world’s most prestigious performing arts institutions, including Arts Educational School London, Bodywork Cambridge, The Brit School, Bird College, East 15, Guildford School of Acting, MADD, Mountview, RADA, Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and Trinity Laban.

The Guildford Theatre School is a Recognised School with the Council for Dance Education and Training (CDET) and has been awarded the Council’s certificate of good professional practice.  The Guildford Theatre School is also a Registered Examination Centre for Trinity College London.

Nationally Recognised Qualifications

Our students have the opportunity to be entered for examinations in all disciplines via nationally recognised boards such as the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) and Trinity College London.

Public Performances

2016-17 saw students take part in public performances as part of the Guildford Summer Youth Project and the sell out Guildford Theatre School showcases at The Electric Theatre and at G Live, Guildford, the pantomime Aladdin at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford, All My Sons at the Rose Theatre, Kingston, Aida at G Live, Wimbledon Theatre, New Victoria Theatre Woking and the Richmond Theatre, Nabucco at the New Victoria Theatre Woking, Wimbledon Theatre and G Live and La Boheme at Richmond Theatre, Wimbledon Theatre and the New Victoria Theatre Woking and the New Vic, Medea at the Gate, London, Oliver! at Grange Park Opera, providing voiceovers for CBBC’s LifeBabble, Big – the Musical UK tour, and as Brigitta in the UK tour of The Sound of Music.
